Are you looking for the best Weight Watchers Banana Bread Recipe?

You've come to the right place. I'm a longtime lifetime Weight Watcher and banana bread lover. Banana bread is my favorite way to use up over-ripe bananas that might otherwise go to waste. Delicious and sweet, banana bread makes a great breakfast, quick snack or healthier version of dessert.

Always wanting to experiment with new WW friendly recipes, I rarely make banana bread the same way twice. I'm always trying out different recipes and flavor combinations.

WW Simple Low Fat Banana Bread

Simple Low Fat Banana Bread

This low fat banana bread recipe comes from an unexpected source. Not from my Weight Watchers cookbooks cookbooks, but from my very first cookbook – The Fannie Farmer Cookbook (affiliate link) by Marion Cunningham.

What I love about this banana bread recipe is its simplicity. Just 7 basic ingredients: ripe bananas, eggs, flour, sugar, salt, baking soda and nuts. The only fat in the recipe comes from the egg yolks and walnuts. You can always make it richer by adding oil, buttermilk, yogurt or milk and make it a more typical Weight Watchers recipe by using your favorite non-calorie sweetener in place of the sugar.

Weight Watchers Applesauce Banana Bread

Easy Healthy Low Fat Applesauce Banana Bread

This recipe replaces the oil or butter typically used in banana bread with unsweetened applesauce, resulting in a lower-fat version. Each slice is only 3 SmartPoints on the Weight Watchers program.

WW Low Fat Banana Bread with Apricots & Dates

Low Fat Banana Bread with Dates and Apricots

Banana bread is one of my favorite things. If you like dense moist banana bread, you'll want to give this one with apricots and dates a try. It's low in fat since all the moisture comes from the mashed bananas and relatively low in added sugar, because the dates add a lot of sweetness.

Easy 3-Ingredient Banana Bread

All you need is 3-4 ripe bananas, eggs, a box of cake mix, a large bowl ,and a spoon to make this low fat banana bread. Talk about easy peasy!

Here are 10 tips for baking banana bread that is Weight Watchers-friendly

The typical banana bread recipe is made with ripe bananas, all purpose flour or self-rising flour, sugar or brown sugar, whole eggs, and generous amounts of vegetable oil or butter. It also often includes nuts or chocolate chips for added texture and flavor. There are many things you can to to create a tasty banana bread that is lower in fat, sugar, calories and WW Points:

  1. Use overripe bananas: Ripe bananas with lots of brown spots are naturally sweeter, so you'll need less sugar in your recipe.
  2. Use a sugar substitute: Use a sugar substitute such as Stevia or Splenda instead of regular sugar or brown sugar
  3. Use whole wheat flour: Whole wheat flour is more nutritious and has more fiber than white flour. It also imparts a nutty flavor.
  4. Use nonfat Greek yogurt: Nonfat Greek yogurt can replace oil or butter in your recipe and add protein. Less oil means fewer calories and Weight Watchers points.
  5. Use egg whites: Egg whites are lower in calories and fat than whole eggs.
  6. Use nonfat milk: Use nonfat milk instead of whole milk to reduce the calorie count.
  7. Add spices: Add cinnamon, nutmeg, or other spices to your recipe for extra flavor without adding extra calories.
  8. Use a smaller loaf pan (affiliate link) or muffin tins: Use mini loaf pans or muffin tins to make mini loaves and reduce the calorie count per serving. Mini muffins are another great lower calorie option.
  9. Use unsweetened applesauce: Unsweetened applesauce can be used in place of oil to make
  10. Make your healthy banana bread recipe gluten-free or vegan by using alternative flours or egg substitutes.

How to freeze banana bread?

Banana bread freezes very well provided your loaf is completely cool and well wrapped before placing it in the freezer. Here's what you do:

  1. Cool completely
  2. Wrap tightly with plastic wrap and then wrap again in aluminum foil or place in a freezer bag for a double layer of protection before and storing in the freezer. You can also slice the bread and wrap individual slices and place them in an airtight container or freezer bag.
  3. Can be frozen 2 to 4 months.
  4. For best results, thaw, wrapped, at room temperature before serving.
