Despite being one of the greatest sluggers in MLB history, Alex Rodriguez is sadly one of the infamous names that may never be inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame. The BBWA takes this honor very seriously, they have already denied it to massive names such as Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, and Mark McGwire. Major League Baseball is not the only sport in which steroid use has been a problem, but it's the one where players have abused these substances the most. Although McGwire and Sosa practically saved the sport in the mid '90s, they were eventually discovered to have been on the juice during their prime. Same thing happened to Barry Bonds and the exact same thing happened with Alex Rodriguez.

But it's not just the steroid use that got Alex Rodriguez banned from this honor, it was also the fact that he became a mole in an investigation. He was reportedly the person who told on other MLB players' steroid use as well in order to get himself out of trouble. That was considered the ultimate treason by the overwhelming majority of MLB legends. Doing steroids was already terrible-enough but ratting on others is unforgivable. Other notable names who are not in the Hall of Fame are Shoeless Joe Jackson, Roger Clemens, and Pete Rose. Each other them made some type of self-sabotage that also prevented them from making it to Coopertown.
Alex Rodriguez was definitely one of the most talented players in the game, he didn't need to get into the trouble he got. Getting past the stigma of having used steroids might never leave his side and this Hall of Fame blunder is proof he might never get past this. although he is still very successful in everything he does right now, there will always be that chip on his shoulder. One of the best players in MLB history won't be a Hall-of-Famer. That's what happens when you don't follow the rules.
