Apple Watch Series 8 vs Apple Watch Ultra vs Apple Watch SE 2nd Gen

These three models from Apple were launched in 2022. As far as the Apple Watch, SE and Apple Watch series 8 are concerned, they are available in two different sizes which are 40 and 44 mm for SE and 41 and 40 and 45 mm for series 8. However, the ultra only comes in a 49 mm model. When we compare the bodies of all these three watches, SE is only available in aluminium, series 8 is available in aluminium and stainless steel, while ultra is only available in titanium and is also the heaviest of the lot.
Talking about the water resistance, the ultra has an IP6X dust resistance rating and is water resistant to up to 100 metres. However, the water resistant part of the SE and the series 8 are lesser at 50 m. While the IP6X dust resistance remains the same, when it comes to the display, the ultra has the largest and the brightest with a 49 mm display and a 410x502 pixel resolution. For the 45MM series 8, the resolution is at 396×484 While SE has 324×394 for the 40 mm model. The brightness capacity also doubles up when it comes to ultra at 2000 nits while SE and series 8 remain at 1000 nits.
Both ultra and the series 8 come with an always on display while SE 2 has it missing. The series 8 comes with a sapphire crystal front which is missing in ultra and SE 2. As long as the battery life is concerned, the Apple Watch Ultra has a 36 hour battery life while the series 8 and SE 2 have 18 hours of battery life, there are some features which are missing in the SE2 but still remain on ultra and series 8 including the ECG app as well as the blood oxygen app. The customisable action button is only available in the Ultra series. The ultra has also been diving certified and has a siren option, which are not available in both series 8 and SE2. When it comes to cycle tracking, the ultra and series 8, have a cycle tracking with temp settings while the Apple Watch SE 2 has cycle tracking minus the temp setting.

Apple Watch SE (2nd Gen, 2023)

It comes in two different sizes, 44 mm and 40 mm. It also comes with GPS and notifications. It has watchOS 10 and also comes with seamless compatibility with all Apple devices as well as services.
