Who we are
The Construction Contract Administration Knowledge Community (CCA) has been established to help our members better understand the issues, actions and resultant impact of the decisions required in this often neglected part of Project Delivery. It is our goal to provide clear answers to issues of concern to the Institute’s membership and share case studies and best practices. We further hope to provide guidance and direction in developing guidelines for new and evolving approaches to Project Delivery as well as guidance in the continuing education of our emerging young professionals.

There is really no difference between the terminology of "Construction Administration" and "Construction Contract Administration" as far as I know. I do remember learning early that the "Contract Documents" are called such in that they make up the Construction Documents AND the Specifications/Project Manual. And, yes, Architects perform Construction Administration and play a very important role in this regard.

I recommend using the term "contract administration."
We are retained by the Owner to administer the contract on their behalf. We are not administering the construction; that is the role of the Contractor or Construction Manager.

The Terminology is straight out of the AIA A201 part 4.2 and B201 part 6. It is also the name of the B201 "Standard Form of Architect's Services: Design and Construction Contract Administration."
The Architect is Administering the "Contract for Construction" between the Owner and the Contractor, on the Owner's behalf. We are not contracted to "Administer Construction." So, while this seems like an acronym or semantics discussion, it is actually a legal language item. Architects provide Construction Contract Administration, per the terms or our (and the Contractor's) Contract Requirements. To the extent that we use other terms on acronyms, that is not the legal responsibility. If you are using non-standard contracts (non-AIA,) language may vary. However, in this case, it is worth reviewing the language, and what obligations you, as an Architect, are responsible and capable of providing with your legal representation.
If you are not comfortable with CCA or CA, you can always default to Construction Phase Services, and avoid the "administration" discussion altogether.

Contract Administration:The services provided by an architect during the construction phase of a project. For stipulated construction price contracts, these services are outlined in detail in in one of the Schedules of Architect's Services which accompany theCanadian Standard Form of Contract for Architectural Services – RAIC Document Six.
Also:
Office and field functions for the contract administration phase of a building project include work undertaken at the following stages:
- prior to construction;
- during construction;
- at close-out;
- during the warranty period.
