MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Family and friends are marking the four year anniversary of Kaely Camacho's death Wednesday.

The 13-year old was killed by a drunk driver April 13, 2012.

Kaely and her sister Bree Ann were in her family's minivan being driven to school by their father when Sandor Guillen, driving an SUV, plowed into Kirk Camacho's vehicle, shearing it in half.

Kaely, a bright and popular Southwood Middle School student and cheerleader, was sleeping in the backseat and was killed.

Guillen was driving drunk with ablood alcohol level of three times the legal limitand speeding in the Miami-Dade busway at SW 184th Street and U.S. 1 when the tragic crash occurred.

Guillen was convicted of DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident in June of 2014.

He was sentenced to 20 years in state prison, followed by nine years of probation, fines and restitution. He was also ordered to make annual $100 contributions to a charity in Kaely's memory.

The Camacho family nowworks with MADD to share Kaely's story in hopes that no other family has to experience this heartbreak. They speak at events, including school outreach and law enforcement recognition events in order to do whatever they can to put an end to drunk driving.
