You might need to forward some ports in your router when you use Ark: Survival Evolved Server. By forwarding ports you allow connection requests coming from the internet to be directed to Ark: Survival Evolved Server.
Routers do not generally allow incoming connection requests from the internet. Forwarding ports can work around this limitation.
Before Forwarding a Port
You need to know the following things before you can forward a port:
The internal IP address of your router.
Your computer's IP address.
Each of the TCP and UDP ports that you need to forward.
Use a VPN Instead
Have you considered using a VPN instead of forwarding a port? For most users, a VPN is a much simpler and more secure choice than forwarding a port.
We use and recommend NordVPN because not only is it the fastest VPN, it includes a new feature called Meshnet that makes forwarding a port no longer necessary for most applications. With NordVPN Meshnet, you can connect to your devices from anywhere in the world, completely secure, over a highly encrypted VPN tunnel.
When shopping for a VPN, make sure that they meet the following criteria:
Your VPN provider should have a no-logs policy. This means that they do not keep any logs of any kind.
Make sure that your VPN provider has lots of exit nodes all around the world.
Check that your VPN will not affect your speed.
Verify that your VPN provider uses WireGuard as the underlying protocol.
Many people prefer a VPN provider that is not based in the United States.
This is the list of requirements that we used when we were shopping around for a VPN provider. There are lots of free, shady VPN providers out there that we looked at and dismissed.
Based in Panama, using diskless servers, and with over 6,100 servers in 61 countries, we can safely say that NordVPN satisfies all of these requirements.
Once you've set up your NordVPN account on multiple computers and enabled Meshnet, you can seamlessly access all of your devices as if they were on the same network. You don't even have to log in to your router. It's very simple.

In our opinion, Port Forwarding is not safe because dangerous connections can penetrate your private network as well through the ports that you may specify (and by defining your DMZ host).

Essentially you'll need to forward ports 7777 and 7778 for UDP and 27015 for TCP. If you have an option to choose both TCP/UDP it may be a good idea. On some routers you can enter ports comma-seperated such as 7777,7778,27015 , and even select TCP/UDP instead of needing to create a rule for each type.
Port forwarding is useful whenever you need to make a direct connection between a device in your home network and a remote device. For example: Watch a security camera or baby monitor when you're away from home. Connect to your home server remotely.
A port-forwarding VPN is then a VPN that allows your computer to be accessed by its public IP on the forwarded port, while still being protected by the VPN for all other cases. In other words, the forwarded port is an entrance to your computer that bypasses the VPN.
TCP connection guarantees message delivery, which makes it a great option for chat. You'll see great performance running your game on UDP and your social features on TCP. However, for less intense multiplayer games, like turn-based games, TCP is a suitable option for both gameplay and chat.
It depends on what you're doing online and the type of data being transferred. UDP is better if you're gaming online, because its speedy data transfer allows for mostly lag-free gaming. TCP is better if you're transferring files, like family photos, because it ensures the data arrives exactly as it was sent.
If you go through your steam client, you can go View > Servers, then you can go to the favorites tab and add a server, you can type in the ip address to to the server and check which port it's on by hitting find games at this address. So it'd be 192.168. 1.1:27015 for example.
Enter the router IP address in your browser. Login to view browser settings (try “admin” as both username and password). Find the port forwarding section. Set new port forwarding rules by entering your private IP and the port for your game.
The computer and the modem require static IP addresses. So the computer (server) being fixed to one IP address, and the modem using that IP address for the ports that will be open. You will want to open for one ARK server, Ports 7777, 7778, 27015.
Common port numbers that typically may be open include 21, 25, 80, 110, 139 and 8080. By default, these port numbers are usually active and open in most routers.
We recommend using a reliable port forward tool like www.portchecktool.com. The port forward checker tool is a valuable resource for network troubleshooting. It helps you check whether your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is blocking specific ports, such as the commonly restricted HTTP port 80 and SMTP port 25.
Port forwarding inherently gives people outside of your network more access to your computer. Giving access or accessing unsafe ports can be risky, as threat actors and other people with malicious intents can then easily get full control of your device.
When a port is opened for a program, such as a BitTorrent app or a multiplayer game, the risk is very low. In most cases, the worst an attacker could do is cause some damage within the app (such as changing your app's settings). They would not gain any further access to your system.
The iron safe can be crafted by a Blacksmith and can be sold directly to a banker or to players. However; it can only be placed within the confines of the bank. The safe is lockable but does not allow for Pin Coding. The Iron Vault can be pin coded however and is sold by the Banker.
If you've chosen to spawn on the southwestern side of The Island, you aren't going to have as much land compared to the southeastern side, but you've got access to one of the safest early game areas as far as wild creatures are concerned.
