Hi folks.
I've been trying to dig up some Hydrox cookies on this side of the border, and have struck out. While I know that they aren't officially sold up here, I figured one of the specialty stores would gave them. No luck.
What part of the US of A are Hydrox sold in? Are they pretty commonly available?

I wasn't aware they were available at all, let alone commonly, since about 1999-2000.

aka Oreos 😄

See below, mind blown!!!!🤯

Hydrox was largely discontinued in 1999, three years after Sunshine was acquired by Keebler, which was later acquired by Kellogg's. In September 2015, the product was reintroduced by Leaf Brands. U.S. Oreo was created in 1912 as an imitation of Hydrox.

haha. Yeah I knew Hydrox was the OG, but Oreos are more readily available and basically taste the same. So not sure I’d go on a crusade looking for Hydrox 😄

I think Sharon buys the "blond" ones (the only good "Oreo" 😎) at ALDI, here in Canandaigua or Geneseo, NY. I'll need to double check.

I’ve ordered mine from Amazon. No local stores carry them. They’re delicious.

If you’re looking for a tide-me-over until you can get the real thing, just open a pack of Oreos and let them get stale for a few days. You won’t replicate the taste of Hydrox, but you’ll get close to the texture! 😂

EDIT: Is it possible that I’ve only ever had stale Hydrox?!?!

Oreos I've had lots of, and they are available in every store up here. However, the connoisseurs will attest to the fact that Hydrox do taste subtly, but significantly, different.

Imitation is the best form a flattery, so I may have to track down a pack to see what is what.

Yeah I demand an ABX test. You’re obviously being influenced by nostalgia and cost because no way could you reliably prefer one or the other with the failings of your subjective senses.

Interestingly, or oddly, I am indeed influenced by an ABX test. A gent I'm writing a biography about took part in such a test, and chose the Hydrox. As a proper biographer, I felt the need to take part in my own way.

See, now I want to try Hydrox as I’d always just assumed they were inferior.

As I remember, slightly different. Not necessarily inferior, just different. But that's just a hazy memory from the distant past of 25 years ago.
