The genre of this book would be mystery and thriller. It falls in this category because the book is based on a detective agency trying to hunt down a killer and figure out who kidnapped Hannah Shapiro. The action in the book takes place in London. The author makes you feel like you are there by providing many vivid details that make you feel like you are there with the characters. For example, in the scene where the girls were being attacked, he used vivid words to describe what was around the girls and how they were scared. The characters do possess believable and realistic traits, maybe not so much for a teen, but for an adult. I do know someone like them because the author describes them as being hard working, smart, and very fit. An example of someone like that would be my mother. I admire the way the author uses words to make the book easy to understand. At times, though, there were some errors in some sentences but other than that he kept it simple. A scene that really moved me was where they were giving a flashback of Hannah and her mother getting kidnapped and Hannah witnessing her mom being killed in front of her. I felt sad for Hannah because that would be a traumatic experience to go through at such a young age. I liked this book because it was very detailed in my opinion. I also liked that every chapter was a different point of view. Although I was confused at times I got used to it. The author, James Patterson is an American author and Philanthropist. Born on March 22, 1947, he is seventy two years old. He has one son and has received many awards for his writings.
