What is the Dawnguard rune AXE in Lost Relic? ›

Dawnguard Rune Axe: "An axe imbued with magic fueled by the destruction of the unholy. With every victorious blow against an undead creature, its power grows." For each version of this quest you will be told to go to a random dungeon from the table below, where you'll find the artifact in the boss chest.

This quest can only be accessed when you have the Dawnguard DLC and are playing as a Dawnguard member and have recruited Sorine Jurardm, Gunmar, and Florentius.

Lost Relic is a random quest given by Florentius Baenius at Fort Dawnguard. The Dragonborn is asked to retrieve one of three possible relics.

Florentius asks the Dragonborn to retrieve an ancient relic that once belonged to the Dawnguard of old. The artifact must be retrieved from a radiant location. This quest is offered up to three times, each time for a different item.

As with all axes, the rune axe can be used for that purpose even when it is not wielded but merely carried in the player's inventory. The success rate for getting a set of logs is approximately 350% that of a bronze axe, or 17% better than an adamant axe.

This weapon cannot be disenchanted to learn its effect.

Before you can begin crafting your own weapons, you must first pick up the Quest titled The Relic. This Quest is obtained after the introductory mission for The Witch Queen Campaign, titled The Arrival. Once you've completed that mission, speak with Ikora Rey who is waiting atop the rocky structure to the left.

Lost Relics uses a Cryptographically-secure random number generator to generate its drops. The number generated is passed through a weighted drop table to determine the drop you get. You have the same chance, every time you roll, as anyone else. No criteria, no selection.

Overall, the physical rewards (weapons, etc) are better if you choose Dawnguard. However, you cannot regularly use the powerful Vampire Lord form until after you've completed the main questline, or else the Dawnguard members will not accept you.

A full set is automatically given to the Dragonborn by Gunmar after completing "A New Order." A full set can be bought from Gunmar at any time. Several pieces can be found around Fort Dawnguard.
