McDonald’s brings back fan favorite breakfast item to Southern California (2024)

McDonald’s is bringing back a beloved breakfast favorite to its menus across Southern California.

Beginning Feb. 5, McDonald’s locations across all of Southern California will once again offer bagel sandwiches. A spokesperson for McDonald’s says the change is permanent, at least for the foreseeable future.

The breakfast sandwiches will be available in-store, in the drive-thru and on the McDonald’s app.

They come in three varieties, including sausage, egg and cheese; bacon, egg and cheese; and steak, egg and cheese.

Each bagel is toasted with butter and served with a folded egg and cheese. The steak option comes with grilled onions.

The bagel sandwich first debuted at McDonald’s in 1999, according to Supermarket News. It was a menu mainstay for two decades before it was dropped from stores during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The fast food giant has teased a permanent return on nationwide menus in the past. A spokesperson for McDonald’s told LADbible in 2021 that the company was hopeful for a potential comeback “at some point in the future.”

The items have had limited releases around the country since then, but eventually returned to the McDonald’s vault, alongside the Arch Deluxe and the McHotDog.

For Southern California residents who have missed the breakfast sandwich, that will no longer be a concern.

The breakfast bagel sandwich will be available at participating McDonald’s locations across Southern California, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura counties. Some Northern California residents might also be able to find it at certain participating restaurants. It’s advised you check your local menu just to be sure.

Editor’s note: McDonald’s initially announced that the bagel sandwich would be a temporary offering in Southern California. This story has been updated with the correction that the item is a permanent addition.
