Spicy Sriracha Bloody Mary

So it appears we’re on a culinary journey to create a small, but sinfully spicy collection of sriracha infused recipes. And loving every minute of it! Playing with a bottle of hot sauce has never been so hot and gratifying. Previously, we’ve shared our homemade sriracha-style chili hot sauce recipe, an addicting creamy spicy hot sauce mayo that you can lather on just about anything, and a party pleasing recipe for hot sriracha chicken wings!

With many other hot sauce recipes in queue, we’ve been experimenting with so much sriracha hot sauce, everyone thinks we’re drinking the bottle of red gold!

Oh, wait! Drink it? What a great idea!

A Sriracha Bloody Mary recipe is now born and ready to blow the socks off anyone who is a self-proclaimed sriracha and Bloody Mary addict.

What Hot Sauce to Use?

Using your favorite hot sauce to replace the conventional Tabasco hot sauce used in most Bloody Mary recipes, this sriracha addition will leave you with an equally quenching, but slightly brighter spicy flavors from your traditional Bloody Mary. There are many recipes for Bloody Marys out there, so you can stick to your tried-and-true favorite Bloody Mary recipe and all you need to do is squirt in the sriracha instead of the Tabasco.

The Asian inspired tangy heat from the sriracha is definitely different, but subtle and bright enough to excite your Bloody Mary taste buds with something new.

We’re game for experimenting with co*cktails of all sorts, just look in our garden and you’ll see the proof. Our 13 citrus trees are not just for straight eating, friends. Nor are the citrus for visual garden pleasure. There’s a plan and purpose for each citrus tree and the most important use for all the citrus trees are for co*cktails!

co*cktail garnishes are something we’re really fascinated by because having a great garnish can really make folks swoon over a co*cktail. So although most of the garden is still in it’s Winter hibernation, we were able to find some great little specimens still growing from Summer!

Different co*cktail Garnishes

I just started using the sriracha in my bloody mary’s early this summer! Using horseradish and worchestershire sauce just is too close to co*cktail sauce for me so I skip that – add lots of lemon and lime juice, some fresh ground pepper and garnish with locally made pickled okra and a green olive or two (tossing a bit of the juice in the drink for health). If it’s an especially hot day, I top it off with some seltzer water to make it sparkle!

Coastal NC style! don’t forget the bendy straw!

two of my favorites…together! I love it

and since I don’t really love sucking horseradish up my straw I love the idea of infusing the vodka before hand

First post I read this morning and now I have a hankering for a bloody mary! Your garnishes make me want summer to get here already. I did see buds on the trees already! 🙂

Oh man. Bloody Mary’s are one of my absolute favorite brunch items and adding Sriracha is just totally sinful! YUM! Beautiful photos and I love the garnishes!

I never thought of using Sriracha, but I adore a Bloody Mary. And at least according to my mother, the juice counteracts the alcohol (she’s obviously not giving any medical advice any time soon, LOL).

Sriracha Bloody Mary’s???? What a genius idea!!!! Why have I never thought of this??? YUM.

FAQs

What is a good substitute for hot sauce in a Bloody Mary? ›

Substitute Sriracha chili sauce for the Tabasco (if you can't find Sriracha, you can use Frank's Hot Sauce), lime juice for the lemon, and 1 teaspoon fish sauce for the Worcestershire sauce. Garnish with cilantro sprigs and lime wedges. Sangrienta Maria (above & below): Omit the Worcestershire and the horseradish.

What to do if your Bloody Mary is too spicy? ›

They suggest sipping the beer between drinks to cleanse your pallet or, if you're not someone who enjoys spicy in the first place, you can also steadily pour the beer into your bloody to tone down the spice of the entire drink.

Does hot sauce go in Bloody Mary? ›

Add three dashes of Tabasco hot sauce for a spicy kick in this Bloody Mary! Garnish with bacon, celery, lemon, and oregano.

Is gin or vodka better in a Bloody Mary? ›

Mix-Up The Best Bloody Mary With Gin Instead Of Vodka

The classic Bloody Mary with vodka is a brunch-menu mainstay, but substituting gin makes the co*cktail a work of art. Gin's botanical complexity transforms a mediocre glass of mixed tomato juice into a refreshing, herbaceous delight.

What is the best hot sauce for a spicy Bloody Mary? ›

Tabasco – Just a few dashes are all we need! This is my favorite hot sauce to accompany my V8 Bloody Mary, but some other great options include Texas Pete and Frank's Red Hot. It should be thin and vinegary! Worcestershire Sauce – Thick, savory, and just a little bit sweet.

Can you use Sriracha instead of hot sauce? ›

That's a big definitive no. Sriracha contains a sweet garlic flavoring, thanks to the amount of sugar contained within. This is very different from the vinegar-heavy tabasco, which has more of a tangy taste. Their flavors are so wildly different that you'd never use them interchangeably.

What neutralizes spicy? ›

Balancing it with an acid can help neutralize the molecule's activity. This means drinking or eating something acidic — such as lemonade, limeade, orange juice or a tomato-based food item or drink — may also help cool your mouth down. (Milk is also acidic, by the way.) DO down some carbs.

What is a spicy Bloody Mary made of? ›

Mix the tomato juice, beef consomme, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, hot pepper sauce, celery salt, and black pepper together in a pitcher; chill.

What alcohol is best with Bloody Mary mix? ›

Employing vodka ensures that the beverage hews to the classic Bloody Mary formula. But using a different spirit base, say tequila or gin, is welcomed or even encouraged. Variations like the Red Snapper use gin, while the Bloody Maria opts for tequila.

Are spicy Bloody Marys good for you? ›

Bloody Marys are actually healthy co*cktails.

In addition to electrolytes, sodium, potassium, and Vitamin C, tomatoes also contain lycopene, which is high in antioxidants. Lycopene helps to combat the toxins in the liver (like the toxins that you consumed while drinking the night before.)

What is the difference between a Bloody Mary and a dirty Bloody Mary? ›

A Dirty Bloody Mary is a variation of the classic Bloody Mary co*cktail. It typically includes the addition of olive brine, giving it a 'dirty' twist. This addition adds a savory, salty depth to the traditional mix of tomato juice, vodka, and various seasonings.

How healthy are Bloody Marys? ›

This fiery red juice also contains a lot of vitamins everyone should have in their daily intake. Tomato juice is high in vitamin C, potassium, and iron, among many others. With all of these health benefits, you don't need any type of excuse to be drinking a Virgin Bloody Mary!

What drink is similar to a Bloody Mary? ›

Bloody Caesar

Even though the tomato flavor is really the heart and soul of the traditional Bloody Mary, that doesn't make it untouchable. Enter: the Bloody Caesar. In this drink, we're keeping the tomato juice but we're also adding some clam broth to the base (AKA a Clamato juice).

What can I use in place of buffalo sauce? ›

Options include:
  • BBQ sauce.
  • most Asian ready made sauces at your grocery store (teriyaki, sweet and sour, etc., even better make a homemade version of one of these sauces)
  • honey mustard.
  • melted butter (or extra virgin olive oil) with garlic, Parmesan cheese, and your favorite herbs.
