The Difference Between a Block Editor and a Page Builder

Elementor is a page builder, whereas Gutenberg is a block editor. Page builders, for starters, offer more functionality. They allow you to customize every element on your website as you see fit, while Gutenberg mainly relies on the WordPress theme you use.

Gutenberg is not the only editor tool available. However, Gutenberg is baked into WordPress. If you want to, you could use another page builder (Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder) that complements and extends the concept of blocks within the builder's separate interface.

The blocks that Gutenberg is based upon make it much simpler to design web pages and create content with the elements you need with less reliance on shortcodes, HTML, and plugins to make things work.

Once installed and activate, go to settings > writing and make sure to click on the “Yes” option for “Allow users to switch editors“. This will enable the switching feature highlighted in this post. You can now switch from WordPress Classic editor to Gutenberg Block editor and vice versa by clicking the option.

Choose an existing template or create a new one from scratch. Click the preview icon from top-right to preview the template. You can switch between Gutenberg and Elementor by clicking Edit with Elementor.
